My now husband and I reached out to Zach pre-pandemic in hopes of getting ourselves into optimal shape ahead of our wedding, and perhaps jumpstart a change toward a more healthy lifestyle. We each had some idea of what was needed (exercise, diet, etc.), but could never figure out how to have the will-power to truly stick to it on our own…familiar obstacles – like stressful jobs, inconsistent long hours, NYC food and fun – kept distracting us from realizing our goals. This monumental moment in our lives gave us the nudge we needed to finally ask for help. We started searching the internet for trainers and came across Zach’s profile at random. His bio, reviews and location seemed to align perfectly with everything we were hoping for, and after speaking with him for the first time, he definitely didn’t disappoint. Zach is extremely knowledgable, patient, supportive, easy to talk to, and gave us the structure and push we needed to get into probably the best shape of our lives (saying that as someone who played sports into college). His chill – and dare I say funny – attitude kept the atmosphere light for us, so exercising didn’t feel like a laborious chore…and yet it wasn’t easy, so we felt accomplished. He also understood our situation and tailored a program that helped us figure out how to modify things as we needed with our ever-changing landscape. While the workouts were empowering and helped us generate a daily rhythm, the biggest contribution for me was his nutritional guidance. I learned a bit more than I knew about food attributes and so much more about myself during this process. It’s now been an over 2 year journey – living through the pandemic, 2 (covid) weddings, moving out of our apartment, living with family, buying a house…and the saga continues. We’ve fluctuated along with it all. Before “wedding 1”, I was able to lose about 20 lbs and gained enough muscle to have a pretty solid 6-pack…it got tougher after the wedding when we cheated and let it all go for a bit. Zach helped us work through the differences between near-term goals, maintaining vs. losing, and just having ‘life’ as a goal. We’re definitely not perfect but, with Zach, we’ve gained confidence in ourselves, built tools to ascertain and overcome mental and physical obstacles, and had the opportunity to discover more of what we’re capable of.
